Most people are lucky enough never to suffer an accident. But those who do, find the experience at the very least painful and inconvenient, and at worst life changing. If the accident is the fault of another party, you may be entitled to claim personal injury compensation, and any financial losses incurred as a direct result of the accident, to try and put you back into the position you would otherwise have been in.
If you are an injured party you should remember that you have the freedom of choice of using your own solicitor to represent you and you do not have to use your own insurer’s solicitors, or handle the claim alone. You should also avoid accepting quick and often very low offers from defendant insurers.
Suffered an accident that was not your fault?
Accidents have a devastating effect on those injured, their families, and indeed on those responsible. If you have been injured in an accident within the last 3 years then you may be eligible to make a claim for compensation to cover your financial loss as well as injuries. Any individual under the age of 18 who suffers injury in an accident, and is able to bring a claim, will require a litigant friend. If successful then any settlement will require the approval of a judge.
