Wills
Writing a will is often put aside to be dealt with maybe when we next move house or when we have our first child. Where to begin can be an overwhelming prospect and a subject that we may not want to discuss or reflect upon.
Looking after the future of your family and those you care about is one of the most important things you can do. We can assist you in preparing a will which ensures that on your death your estate transfers to the persons you wish to benefit.
Our specialist solicitors are members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and our staff are experienced in advising on all aspects of will preparation, including:
- Inheritance tax planning
- Provision for children
- Guardianship
- Arrangements for second families
- Executorships
- Creation of trusts
- Charitable gifts
If you have not made a valid will, the law provides that your estate will be distributed in accordance with the intestacy rules originally made more than 80 years ago. In many instances these rules do not reflect the needs of today’s families. Unmarried partners and step-children will not be provided for. Your spouse or civil partner may not inherit all of your estate, but may have to share it with your children, parents or brothers and sisters.
To avoid any dispute or complication in the future it is best to have your will professionally prepared.
