Community Legal Service

Our firm has held a Legal Aid quality mark since 1995. The standard is awarded to firms who can demonstrate they provide an assured service, commitment to professionalism and a high level of client care. Strict audits are carried out annually to ensure these standards are maintained.

Lexcel

Lexcel is the Law Society’s highest award in quality assurance standards, designed to improve client care through good practice management and efficiency. We were one of the first firm’s in the country to achieve this award. Lexcel accreditation for our firm is independent evidence and endorsement of our commitment to quality work. External reaccreditation for Lexcel is carried out annually to ensure we continue to meet required standards of excellence in areas such as client care, case management and risk management.

The Law Society's Specialist Panels

Solicitors can apply to become members of the Law Society's specialist panels set up by the Society to ensure consistency of service and professionalism. Panel appointment is at the discretion of the Law Society and subject to suitability and expertise. The Law Society and other organisations also have dedicated sections for lawyers engaged in their particular area of work. The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is the leading worldwide professional body for legal practitioners and solicitors in the fields of trusts, estates and related issues. STEP members help families secure their financial future and protect the interests of vulnerable relatives. STEP promotes the highest professional standards through education and training, leading to a widely respected international professional qualification. A number of our Private Client are STEP qualified Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Conveyancing Quality Scheme

The Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) is designed to provide clients with reassurance about their solicitor's integrity, practice standards and professionalism in residential conveyancing. Achieving membership establishes a level of credibility for member firms with clients, regulators, lenders and insurers based upon:

  • The integrity of the Senior Responsible Officer and other key conveyancing staff.
  • The firm's adherence to good practice management standards.
  • Adherence to prudent and efficient conveyancing procedures through the scheme protocol

All BHR conveyancers operate as part of this Scheme and undergo rigorous annual training and examinations to maintain the firm’s membership of the Scheme.
