Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced and commercially-minded Senior Conveyancer (Solicitor or Legal Executive) to join our growing team at Brewer Harding & Rowe Solicitors LLP. Based in the beautiful North Devon area, this is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive environment, where you’ll be able to manage your own caseload while receiving appropriate support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a busy caseload of residential conveyancing transactions, including sales, purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity, both freehold and leasehold.
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients, ensuring a high level of service and client satisfaction
  • Handle more complex conveyancing matters as required, including development work, shared ownerships, easements and other bespoke drafting.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, fostering repeat business and ensuring a positive client experience throughout the process.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal processes.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, providing support when required, and assisting in the development of junior team members.

About You:

  • Ideally, you will have at least 3 years’ PQE working as a residential conveyancing fee earner in a busy environment.
  • You should be able to manage your own caseload with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • You should have experience in a wide range of residential transactions and be willing to learn or have experience handling more complex conveyancing processes.
  • A client-focused approach is essential, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring that their needs are met.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities and adapt to the changing demands of the market.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on a range of private client matters, including wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), estate administration, and trust advice.
  • Manage a caseload of complex and diverse private client matters, offering bespoke legal advice and delivering high-quality client service.
  • Provide expert advice to clients regarding tax implications, inheritance planning, and asset protection.
  • Support the administration of estates, including the preparation of probate applications and the distribution of assets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring they feel supported throughout the process and fostering repeat business.
  • Comply with all regulatory and firm policies, ensuring that clients receive the highest standards of care and professionalism.

About You:

  • You will be a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with experience in private client work, and ideally hold the STEP qualification or be working towards it.
  • Preferably, you will have at least 3 years’ PQE in private client work, but all strong candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
  • You will have a proven track record of handling a variety of private client matters, including wills, LPAs, estate administration, and trusts.
  • You should be able to manage a diverse caseload independently while ensuring clients receive a high level of service.
  • A strong attention to detail and an ability to work with complex legal and financial matters is essential.
  • You should be client-focused with excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to providing clear, effective advice.
  • A proactive and positive attitude toward client care and compliance with legal standards is key.
