Dentistry From Home Dentistry to Treatment Abroad and The Rise of Fake Dentists

With the ever increasing demand for NHS dental services, many patients are turning towards the private sector and alternative treatment options. From the rise of home dentistry attempts during lockdown and even now due to a lack of NHS appointments, holidays abroad to access cosmetic dentistry and now the BBC reported rise of fake dentists in the UK, it is no wonder that dentistry sector is seemingly in crisis.

The new government has vowed to plunge more funding into the NHS to try and overhaul the failing NHS system, but very little appears to have yet been diverted to NHS dentistry. The pledges of a new “Dentistry Rescue Plan”, is seemingly yet to yield any results.

While it is fair to say that the vast majority of treatment in the UK is uneventful and you can spend more time waiting for an appointment than in the dentist’s chair, there are occasions where things go wrong with treatment. It is not always the case that the dental practitioner is to blame – but we are here to help if it is.

From a treatment perspective, it is important to ensure that you attend a reputable practice who is insured against any issues with treatment. If you are in need of a dentist, the first thing is find an NHS dentist is via the NHS website or contact you local practices to see if they can fit you on their list. If that doesn’t work, you can contact your local Integrated Care Board (formerly the Clinical Commissioning Group).
