Brewer, Harding & Rowe are extremely proud to present a series of articles written by 8 of our current staff which show the different routes into qualification as a fee earner within our firm.
Some of the articles explain that law was their first choice of career. For others, it was not the obvious choice, but one that was achieved regardless.
We are able to support those with a keen attitude to learn and progress within their careers at the firm. You shall read that of the 8 staff, 3 are now qualified solicitors, 1 a licensed conveyancer, 1 a CILEx and 2 are trainee solicitors, all of which we have trained and supported within the firm. All of these 8 individuals remain supported by us as their careers progress and successful careers are forecast.
After completing my undergraduate Law degree with a year studying abroad, I was eager to take on a new challenge - one that would allow me to apply the theoretical knowledge I had spent years studying. With that goal in mind, I applied for Brewer Harding & Rowe’s student summer scheme. I was delighted to be accepted and spent the placement working in the Braunton office. The experience was both enjoyable and motivating, and it confirmed that this was the environment in which I wanted to begin my legal career.
At the end of the scheme, I was offered a role as an assistant within the Commercial department, an opportunity I willingly embraced. I balanced this part-time role with studying for my Masters in Legal Practice, gaining valuable practical insight while continuing my academic development. Once I completed my Masters, I began my training contract, which I am now over halfway through having spent time with the commercial, residential and now family department.
My ambition to become a solicitor stems from a desire for a career that is both intellectually challenging and grounded in real impact. I am drawn to the complex nature of the work, the opportunity to guide clients and the responsibility that comes with being trusted to help those that need it most.
Being less than a year away from qualification has prompted me to reflect on my journey so far. Choosing law and the path taken has been demanding at times, but also incredibly rewarding. This time and environment has allowed my confidence and resilience to grow creating a clearer sense of the solicitor I aspire to be. This journey has strengthened my determination, broadened my experience and brought me closer to achieving my long-term goals.
