Brewer, Harding & Rowe are extremely proud to present a series of articles written by 8 of our current staff which show the different routes into qualification as a fee earner within our firm.
Some of the articles explain that law was their first choice of career. For others, it was not the obvious choice, but one that was achieved regardless.
We are able to support those with a keen attitude to learn and progress within their careers at the firm. You shall read that of the 8 staff, 3 are now qualified solicitors, 1 a licensed conveyancer, 1 a CILEx and 2 are trainee solicitors, all of which we have trained and supported within the firm. All of these 8 individuals remain supported by us as their careers progress and successful careers are forecast.

Route to qualification
I have taken a somewhat unconventional route to becoming a qualified solicitor, but I am proud to have finally begun this journey.
Having always had a strong interest in science, I started by completing a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science at Bournemouth University. Eager to continue in this field, I went on to achieve a Master’s degree in Integrated Immunology at the University of Oxford. While I enjoyed my studies, I realised that a career in the laboratory was not the path I wanted to pursue.
During my time at Oxford, I had the opportunity to meet several exceptional university solicitors who advised on the legal aspects of laboratory work and research. Their work inspired me and ultimately led me to pursue a career in law.
I joined Brewer Harding and Rowe as a Legal Secretary in the Conveyancing department, where I gained valuable practical experience. In July 2025, I began my Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship. Although this is not the traditional route to qualification, it allows me to prepare for the SQE while gaining the required qualifying work experience.
I am aiming to qualify as a solicitor in 2028. While I am still at the beginning of my legal career, I am thoroughly enjoying the journey and look forward to gaining experience across different departments within the firm.
At this stage in my career, I am committed to working hard and making the most of every opportunity. I am eager to continue learning, and my long-term goal is to combine my passion for both law and science in my future career.
